Pantasia

Pants or no pants, this is a question. :)

While skirts and dresses are exclusively designed for women (except for the Great Scots, and tribe people, of course) to bring out all that demure and feminine touch, pants are men's closet staple. From human anatomy's aspect, it all makes sense: think that most of men tend to have narrow hips, thinner thighs with no waist, but we, women, are polar opposite. Modern English even has expressions associated "wearing pants" with "being powerful" and "calling the shot".

Fact: women struggle with our pants size and fit since day 1. Even those tall and lean ones, whom we admire to death for their nice legs,  still have their own secret battle with pants.

In modern fashion history, women didn't wear pants until 1930s when film stars, such as Marlene Dietrich, and Katherine Hepburn made their appearance with menswear on the silver screen. Rumor has it that Katherine Hepburn didn't own any skirt in her personal life, unless she was in films.

Another fact: We pears hate pants. However, if you were like me who doesn't want to give up the option entirely, you would continue trying on pants until someday, you either accept the reality that certain pair of pants could only make you look relatively better than other pairs or somehow, change your body shape....I wouldn't put all my money on the second possibility but rather try to work out the first.

Not all pants are created equal. True, we all know that. And don't follow those so called "fashion rules" literally. Rules say that wide legs are better for bottom heavy type. This is not always true. Pears should always find pants that is rather fitted than loose. Wide legs are not wide hip friendly as you might think. It can only work if there's length factor in it. Other wise, you would look like a moving square table. Trust me. I have been there and done that. And I speak it from the bottom of my own heart. :(

Fact No3: there's a pair of pants for everybody. Don't compare how you look in these pants with others, but compare it with how you look in other pairs.

Your writting is always fun to read! Thank you. This wide leg pants with a fitted top tucking in looks great on you! sharp and clean. Your scarf and belt are so pretty!

据我观察, 绝大部分人穿 bootcut/straight/flare 裤子都比 skinny 好看。

That was an interesting and informative post. These days I prefer wearing pants to skirts but you're right I have a hard time finding the right kind of pants for me.

Ann, totally feel your pain. Wish you best. :)
